Hamilton Pools in the Travis County near Austin has been described as the area’s ‘Best Kept Secret” and one of the state’s best swimming holes. Unfortunately the secret is out. Numbers of visitors are controlled and reservations – particularly in summer – are essential.
The pool is backed by a huge limestone cave with a waterfall that falls over it’s entrance. The pool is home to fish and turtles and is a short downhill walk from the car park into a box canyon. After you visited the pools another short walk will lead you to it’s confluence with Pedernales River
