About Me

I’m Dean, although you’ve probably figured out that much already – the web site name is a clear give away after all.

I’ve always been a keen traveller. I blame this and my spotty employment record on my parents. If they hadn’t taken me to Fiji at a young and impressionable age my life would have turned out vastly different. As it is, I’ve spent a good part of my life on the road and freelancing as a either a graphic designer or travel writer.

These days I live in New Zealand with my wife, our two kids and a cat. We recently had to re-home the cat because we went travelling around the States for a year in an RV and I suspected it had coronavirus. This didn’t go down well with the kids. The cat was indifferent.

Welcome

This site has become my backpack on the web. A bit of a catch all of writing, photography and design. As per a sign I once saw in a Russia hotel - “If this is your first time here, you’re welcome to it”
